Where can you stay in Malaysia
Malaysia consists of 13 states and 3 federal territories. MM2H visa holders can reside anywhere in Malaysia except for 2 states, Sabah and Sarawak.
If you would like to reside in Sarawak, you need the MM2H Sarawak version of the visa. The same applies to Sabah. If you would like to reside in Sabah, you need the MM2H Sabah version of the visa.
Converting from one to the other is not easy, and it is best to decide where you want to stay, Peninsular Malaysia or Sabah/Sarawak before you apply.
You can, however, reside anywhere in Malaysia with a Sarawak MM2H or Sabah MM2H visa.
Political Stability and Rule of Law
The ruling Government of Malaysia is a freely elected Government and represents all groups of people found within the country.
Malaysia has long been one of the safest and most politically stable countries in the world by strictly practicing the British system of justice set out in its constitution. This rule of law has enabled the development of an open, democratic society with constitutional guarantees to practice all religions.
Culture & Language
The Malay language (Bahasa Malaysia) is the national language of the country; English is the second language but other languages can be freely used and practiced.
Similarly the Malay culture is dominant in the country because the Malays are the dominant race in Malaysia and in the region. Other cultures can be practiced very freely and there is a free intermingling of different cultures.
Recreation & Entertainment
The country has everything for the family, theme parks, jungle trails, sports, water sports and one of the highest numbers of golf courses. The forests in Malaysia are indisputably the oldest in the world and its National Parks are treasure troves of its rich natural heritage.
Malaysia’s coastline now attracts millions of Malaysian and foreign tourists for leisure and relaxation activities. Beaches, islands and coral reefs offer a spectacular venue for all these activities.
Shopping
From high-end couture to ethnic handicrafts and the internationally acclaimed pewter ware, Malaysia has it all. Enjoy the comforts and convenience of shopping in air-conditioned malls and hypermarkets. Besides shopping, families have a choice of watching a movie, having fun at the bowling alley or enjoying the spread at the food court.
Shoppers can also browse for interesting items on display at the weekly flea markets. Do join-in the excitement of haggling at the night markets or pasar malam, an interesting feature of local life. The best time to enjoy fantastic discounts and special offers is during the annual Mega Sales.
Food & Fruits
International cuisine is available here at very reasonable cost. With so many races and cultures living together in harmony, it is understandable that each race has picked up the best of each other’s food and made Malaysia into Asia’s Food Paradise.
Similarly the tropical fruits of Malaysia are unique, exotic and available in abundance practically throughout the year. It should be a real joy to savour these fruits.
People
At Malaysia, you will discover a delightful fusion of three of Asia’s oldest civilizations – Malay, Chinese and Indian.
A potpourri enriched with indigenous traditions of the Kadazans, Ibans and other ethnic communities of Sabah and Sarawak on the island of Borneo. Added with the influence of the British, Portuguese, Dutch and Thais, Malaysians are indeed a blend of diverse cultures.
